LondonSEO Party – Thursday 21st February

by Rob Kerry - Posted on

That’s right, SEO Chick Lisa has highjacked LondonSEO, and I’m organising the party for the last day of SES London. This is going to be ONE awesome party. Still can’t believe they are trusting me to organise this, mowhahahaha…

We got two fantastic sponsors for the party, RedFly Marketing and Altogether Digital.

Myself and Evilgreendonkey were out scouting for a venue last week and have decided on the Camden Head in Islington, it is located just 2 min walk from the Business Design Centre where SES is being held. The pub was used for a previous LondonSEO party 2 years ago for anyone that remembers that far back =) Wayyyy before my time, I was wearing SEO nappies back then!

So put this in your diaries:

Date: Thursday 21st Feb 2008

Time: 17:00 – until late

Venue: Camden Head, Islington

Nearest station: Angel

I have also opened a Facebook Group for the party, please feel free to join.

Oh and I would appreciate RSVPs either through comments or the Facebook group, now lets show the Americans and Europeans how the LondonSEO crowd party =)

For the regulars, will be nice to see you all again, for those of you that haven’t been to a LondonSEO party before, you won’t regret it =)

  1. I remember that venue from the last event at the BDC, it was lovely and warm and the beer garden was fully utilised… Oh well, I’m sure it will be nice and warm with the amount of snake bites we’ll be drinking.

    See you there!

  2. ha ha! Funny you should say snakebite, I just posted a photo on the Facebook group for the party and it’s from the last LondonSEO party after SMX, with us all smiling like fools on crack, yup, drinking snakebite =)

  3. *** The pub was used for a previous LondonSEO party 2 years ago for anyone that remembers that far back. ***

    Even bigger questions.

Does the landlord remember US at all, and would it be good or bad if he did?

  4. I’ll be there – WITH CHOCOLATE! That is, I’ll bring it *IF* I can convince someone to eat it. Sheesh – you’d think I was passing out poison!

  5. I was at this pub last time. It was a blast and is not to be missed! It was my first LondonSEO meet and I have even turned up to a few since!

  6. Didn’t you have it drilled into you when you were a kid Judith not to take sweets from strangers!

Not gonna be able to make ses but might be able to pop in for a pint

  7. There’s a few hotels in the “under 40 quid per night including breakfast” price range, in that area, as well as the ones needing 150 to 400 quid per night.

  8. This is the pub of the first London SEO that I attended…I don’t advise anyone to try falling UP the stairs, just for the record. And watch out for their Red Bull and vodkas. They’re evil.

  9. Looking forward to it..

I remeber the one here 2yrs ago.. I got in so much trouble in tesco’s after leaving pub looking for FOOD LOL..

@tim Loads of b&b’s around.. hotels are a little $$$$ around angel..

  10. @egm – I like the “+ spamming”… honesty isn’t expected here 😉
It is a packed time of the year though – I have a ton on and would hate to miss the socialising but withthe parties and endless media stuff, it’s always gogogo

@Nick W – looking forward to catching up with you – will you be in London all on your lonesome?

I know there will be lots of PubCon folks at SES so the drinks should be a riot!

  11. There’s usually a group of about 20 to 40 people hanging out in the Hilton hotel bar (next door to conference venue) most evenings (from 6 or 7 or so, until well after midnight), starting on the Monday evening before the conference.

If you turn up there and no-one seems to be around, then try a bit later. During part of the evening most will probably be eating out for an hour or two in one of the very many restaurants in Upper Street, and the various adjacent roads.

  12. >Oh no, the Russians are coming!

Yep any requests for Stolichnaya or Marlboro need to be made in the next two weeks! Will be good to finally catch up with you Rob!

    @Judith

Yep just me on my lonesome this time. It was too last minute to get a visa for Anna but we’ll both be back there in December anyway.

I’ve still not sorted out accommodation. The Hilton only has the top end rooms left but Jury’s Inn still has space at £128/night. Anyone staying there or have other suggestions?

  13. @g1smd – I gave up and decided since I was a wimp at PubCon and left everywhere hours – DAYS – earlier than other revelers I needed to maintain my image as an early-to-bedder and just take the train home every night.

I know… WIMP… but I’m also going to have to file stories and thus can use the train to force myself to get some writing done 😀

I’m still wondering if I should continue with the chocbait after only the security guards at PubCon could be counted on to consume the quality Swedish Druid Chocolate I had with me 🙁

  14. @Lyndon – for you, I shall bring Sweedish Druid chocolates!

    COME ON EVERYONE!

THERE WILL BE CHOCOLATE – surely that alone – and not necessarily the free booze – is reason enough to join in the fun!

  15. Should be awesome. The last session finishes at 4:30, so should be in the pub from about 4:32 😉 It’s literally across the road from the conference centre (just down one of the side streets!).

  16. Great party. Thanks for organising it LisaDit and for those that put money behind the bar.

I met some people from the forums who I have never met before – that was really interesting 🙂

  17. I was GUTTED at the melted box of chocolates!

And the fact the local M&S was sold out of both chocolates and cornflake chocolate crumble things.

However – chocbait worked WAY better than at PubCon. Obviously SES attendees and LondonSEO mobbers know how to spot good chocolate!

  18. Nice to meet up with a few new faces, especially those that have been posting over at SEF that I hadn’t met before…

Adam Lasnik managed to not talk about Google or SEO for almost all of the evening, too.

That pub was a bit crowded, and they cleared the upstairs room (and my fresh pint) for their comedy club night, while I visited the loo. Grrr.

Saw someone being handed a meal from behind the bar, fought my way to the front to order some food, only to be told the kitchen had closed about 1 minute ago. Grrr.

So, continued with the liquid lunch instead… and didn’t get up until after 10am the next day…
