LondonSEO – The Recession Session, February 19th

2009 January 31
by Coppi

G’day London. It’s time for another LondonSEO event, and as the newest member of the highly organised event management team, it’s fallen upon me to tell you about the event that I couldn’t attend in 2008 due to being on the other side of the bloody world. This was how I felt about the situation, sitting in Seattle.

After much doubt, concern and letters to various MPs, there will indeed be a LondonSEO party during SES London this year. As was the case last year, the event will take place at the Camden Head in Islington. The pub is only a few minutes’ walk from SES London’s venue, the Business Design Centre.

So that’s all excellent, isn’t it? You’d not think that any bad news could come out of such a great post, but unfortunately, we have some. Due to the current state of the economy and the fact that I’ve only just showed up in London and haven’t had time to whip Rob’s organisational skills into shape, we don’t have a sponsor for the upcoming event. But that’s not going to stop a bunch of British SEOs from showing up at this pub though, is it?

Camden Head

To summarise, for those of you who didn’t bother reading my drivel, here are the important details:

Date: Thursday 19st Feb 2009

Time: 17:00 – until late

Venue: Camden Head, Islington

Nearest station: Angel

State your intent to join us by signing up for the Facebook event, or else we might not let you in ;) See you there!

SMX London – Beers and Secret Handshakes

2008 October 20
by Rob Kerry

I’m delighted to announce the LondonSEO networking party for SMX London 2008. The event will take place on Tuesday 4th November, the first day of the conference. Search Marketing Expo attendees and internet marketing enthusiasts are welcome to join us for a night of beer, banter, bitching and card swapping (couldn’t think of another ‘b’).

CAP EuroThere’s even better news – our saviour of free beer comes in the form of CAP Euro, a sponsor that runs conferences dedicated to new and existing affiliates of online gaming.

CAP Euro is the biggest event out there for the iGaming affiliate industry and unlike other events it mixes business and pleasure perfectly with unique offerings such as an open bar in the expo room along side a poker tournament that pays out prizes up to $20,000, through to acquiring the best speakers in the sector and running the most lavish networking events ever seen. And if that isn’t enough we do not charge affiliates or webmasters anything to attend any part of our event from the poker to the conference so the only investment you have to make is your time.

Even if you work in-house or at an agency, there’s nothing better than earning some extra income by using your SEO and PPC skills – and there’s no bigger payout than online gaming. So if you want to know how affiliates are making 6 figures a month through their poker sites, why not attend this free and fun conference?

Our glorious venue for the night will be the Freemasons Arms, a Shepherd Neame pub just minutes from the conference centre. Don’t worry, you don’t need to know the special masonic handshake to get in!

As well as the usual Guinness and Lager on tap, some may enjoy experimenting with fantastic British Real Ale, such as Bishops Finger and Spitfire (my personal favourite). We’ve booked the entire pub, so plenty of space to mingle or be anti-social in a corner.

Here are all the details you’ll need in order to attend:

Date:
Tuesday 4th November 2008 from 6:30pm onwards. (no food provided :p)
Venue:
Freemasons Arms, 81-82 Long Acre, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 9NG [Google] [Streetmap].
Nearest Station:
An easy walk from both Holborn (Central and Piccadilly) and Covent Garden (Piccadilly Line)
FaceBook Group:
LondonSEO.org on ArseBook

We look forward to chatting to you over a great British pint!

LondonSEO Summer BBQ Party

2008 July 25
by Rob Kerry

It’s time for another LondonSEO and not even the ridiculous heat in our beloved capital can stop us! Although most of us geeks prefer to shy away for the sun and direct sunlight, some people bizarrely enjoy being out in the heat and beaming rays. Sacrificing pub nostalgia this August, we’ll be holding LondonSEO in the courtyard of Vibe Bar on Brick Lane. Not only will there be outdoor air conditioning in the cordoned off courtyard, we’ll also have a South African BBQ available to those who get the munchies.

Media CentrixI’m pleased to announce Media Centrix as this month’s sponsor, who have kindly offered to put their card behind the bar for beers. Media Centrix specialise in recruitment for the online marketing industry. If you’re actively looking to move jobs or just interested in what’s out there, please have a chat to one of the people from Media Centrix who will be attending the event. If you’re recruiting, Media Centrix can also help you find the right people.

LisaD Highjacks LondonSEO.org…again. Next party; Thursday 19th June!

2008 June 5
by LisaDit

Right, so while Rob is partying away at SMX in Seattle I thought, HA!, I’m going to take over LondonSEO and organise a party. Ok it’s not really that dramatic, we talked about it (ehm yeah we are not married) before he left to SMX and he has left the organising in my safe hands. Mowhahahah!

Our very kind sponsor for this party is Media Contacts, a London based Media Recruitment agency, who place a lot of people in SEO and PPC. I have used Media Contacts myself on several occasions for recruiting and I highly recommend them (John Fraser is probably one of the world’s last genuinely nice recruiters, that doesn’t only think about his commission. And as MediaContacts has snapped up John they must stand for the same principles)

Media Contacts

Date: Thursday 19th June (2008 that is!)

Venue: The Ship Tavern in Holburn. Literally just behind Holburn station (take a left and left again, or at least that’s what the geezer from the pub said!)

Time: 6pm until late (basically until we get kicked out at closing or alternatively get kicked out for evilgreenmonkey being rowdy)

Who can attend:
Anyone involved in SEO, SEM, whether black hat or white hat. Heck we even let affiliates in (sorry very nice affiliate people)

Please join the LondonSEO Facebook group (this time I have actually opened a group and added an event instead of opening a new group for each event, doh! And I do SMO????)

PS: 4 of the SEO-Chicks will be there, whoop whoop! The fabulous Julie Joyce (the funniest freakin blogger ever), the chocolate crazy Judith “deCabbit” Lewis, the wayyy too pretty Rebecca Scott and of course the very down to earth and professional LisaD (ehm).

PS PS: Ha ha, evilgreendonkey (yep that’s right, I’m still trying to Googlebomb his ass for this) is going to be less happy about me spamming LondonSEO with SEO-Chicks stuff. Oh well, he’s in Seattle, can’t get me from there donkey!!

Hope to see you all on the 19th, let’s make it a fantastic Summer LondonSEO party!
